Workshop for B&R Zimbabwe in Leipzig
Our next Build & Ride group is heading to Africa already in the beginning of August. This time we will be going to Zimbabwe. In cooperation with the Youth Welfare Office of the German city Leipzig, Vezuthando e.V. sends a youth group to Southern Africa. Eight young and motivated adults from Leipzig, aged 18 to 25, are joining the project in Zimbabwe.
For this reason a workshop was held in Leipzig from the 11th to the 12th of June. The purpose of this workshop was to provide the participants with a better understanding of the work of Vezuthando e.V., as well as to introduce issues related to development. Furthermore local conditions and traditions were discussed.
In addition to the group leader Laura Frost, chairman Holger Vogt, who will also accompany the group in Zimbabwe, attended the workshop to share his knowledge about the country with the new participants.
Vezuthando e.V. is very excited about the new cooperation, which in particular benefited from the hard work of Karin Hempel, head of the department for ‘International Exchange’ in Leipzig.
The Vezuthando- Team wishes Daniela, Vicky, Benny, Olli, Kathleen, Tom, Tina and Lisa a great time full of experiences in Zimbabwe.

Vorbereitungsseminar in Bochum/Essen

Board meeting
This year the annual board meeting was, according to the tradition, held in Lamspring between Christmas and New Years. According to the board, 2009 was an extremely successful year. All areas of operations recorded an increase and the aims expressed in 2008 were all achieved. The finished finacial year was critically analysed. Positive as well as negative results were discussed and taken into consideration for the targets of 2010. 2009 was considered to be the strongest operational year, which mainly has to do with the restructuring in 2008 as well as the intensive work in 2009. This positive trend will be elaborated and expanded in future. We would like to thank everybody for their work and their commitment and are looking forward to new projects, challenges and events in the 2010.

Mayor of Deining presents 500 Euro
After last years beneficial concert 'Choirs for South Africa' at the Neumarkt Reitstadel Chairman Holger Vogt promised to come back soon again to the area to report how the raised money of 3,500 Euro was used. He fulfilled his promise on December 14th 2009. Mathias Meier who had help to organise the abovementioned concert, invited to an information event. Anyone who was interested as well as friends of Vezuthando followed this call and were educated by the chairman about the exact usage of the raised money. The mayor of the town of Deining was also present and presented a cheque over 500 Euro, about which Vezuthando e.V. was overjoyed. The people of the municipal council of Deningen had raised 300 Euro within their meetings which was liberally stocked up by the mayor Alois Scherer with a further 200 Euros.
